ELSA students participate in Sports Day by playing soccer or basketball, and by competing in a variety of races; such as sack race, egg-in-spoon race or tug-of-war. Students are encouraged to mix with other students from different classes. Parents and children are usually invited. At lunch time, students gather with their teacher and have a multi-ethnic picnic potluck.
The Department holds a traditional Christmas Party for all the ELSA classes. Children are usually invited. Students participate by singing ethnic songs, in groups or individually, or by performing dances or acts. Students share with their teacher a multi-ethnic potluck lunch. Santa Claus always comes to gives the children small gifts.
