Literacy, Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced

Literacy to Advanced ESL classes are offered around Vancouver and Burnaby. Find a location near your home or work.

Some classes teach listening, speaking, reading and writing. Some classes focus on listening and speaking or reading and writing.

Students’ needs and interests are taken into account when planning the content for each class.

Special Classes
We have Bridge Literacy classes for ESL students who have difficulty with reading and writing and have had limited formal education. For information call 604-871-7145.

Note: There are no tuition fees for Bridge Literacy classes.

INFORMATION ABOUT REGISTRATION FOR COMMUNITY CLASSES

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident (Landed Immigrant) or Convention Refugee.
  • Others, such as those on Work Permits and Refugee Claimants may be permitted. Check www.vcc.ca for admission requirements or call 604-433-8453.
  • Those on Student or Visitor Visas are welcome to study. International student fees apply to all classes.
  • Bring your Citizenship Card, Immigration Papers, or other documents to register.
  • Come to register on the registration day and time at the centre where you want to study. Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • The teacher will assess you at the registration day to decide which level and class is good for you.
  • You must pay for the class when you register. You can pay by cheque, Visa Mastercard, American Express, money order or Financial Aid. Fees include student association fees. All new students must pay an application fee.
  • No cash or debit or bank cards are accepted.
  • Financial Aid is available. If you do not have enough money to pay for the class, you can appy for financial help at the Financial Aid Office at Broadway campus (604-871-7046). You must apply ahead of time and you may get assistance.
